The Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT P) is developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Universities use STAT P results to assist their selection of students across a broad range of academic programs.
STAT P is a 2-hour, 10-minute exam that assesses a range of competencies considered important for successful tertiary study. It evaluates verbal and quantitative reasoning skills. Specific subject knowledge is not required.
STAT P gives university applicants an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to cope with tertiary studies, in addition to their Grade 12 achievement results.
